About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and hold a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology.  I am a Certified in Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling and a Certified Anger Management Specialist. I specialize in individual, couples and family therapy. I maintain a private practice in New York City's Greenwich Village. Areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma, relationship issues, parenting issues and life transitions.

As a psychotherapist my style is psychodynamic, relational and supportive. Psychodynamic psychotherapy explores unconscious thoughts, feelings and behaviors which develop in childhood and are a unique mix of early experiences and temperamental/genetic factors. The goal of treatment is to better understand yourself through the process of identifying and working though this unconscious material. The objectives of therapy include symptom relief, increasing self awareness and self-esteem, improving your ability to identify and handle emotions, the enhancement of ego-strength and self-cohesion and the expansion of the capacity to love, to work, and to depend appropriately on others.  I am committed to to creating a warm, empathic environment where you will feel safe and comfortable expressing your thoughts, feelings and concerns as we engage in the collaborative process of self-exploration.

I have over ten years experience in the field of substance abuse and addictions. I specialize in working with individuals in recovery who seek to maintain their sobriety while facing the challenges of everyday life on their journey of growth and change.

I also work extensively with professional actors, directors, writers, musicians, and visual artists to address issues of creative blocks, anxiety, depression, stage fright, issues of confidence and self-doubt, financial instability and juggling or changing careers. I have an undergraduate degree from the American of the Academy of Dramatic Arts and training in Drama Therapy which has further afforded me the opportunity to embrace the relationship between art and therapy as elements of growth, healing, self discovery and self-cohesion.
